DB80 Concrete Barriers for Melbourne Airport

The Concrete Barrier Project

Avis Australia has an extensive rental fleet located at Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport. With the cars stationed adjacent to pedestrian areas, and many opportunities for drivers to get behind the wheel of unfamiliar cars, Avis needed a safety barrier solution on their lot.

Located in a shared space with other car rental companies, Avis needed to demarcate their fleet of vehicles and provide a safety barrier solution to ensure the risk of out of control vehicles was minimised.

The company needed a series of traffic rated concrete jersey barriers that could be positioned around the car parking zone, increasing safety and helping to secure the lot against potential theft.

Jaybro’s Solution

Jaybro supplied Avis Australia with 500 linear metres of 6m concrete jersey barriers to use in their car yard at Melbourne Airport. This was an effective solution to ensure their fleet is segregated from other cars and an excellent security measure, making it virtually impossible for a car to be stolen unless driven through the main gates.

The DB80 concrete barriers are an approved barrier to be used on VIC Roads for speeds up to 100 km/h with minimal deflection if someone was to lose control of their vehicle or try to deliberately ram the barriers. The DB80 concrete jersey barriers are also approved by RMS, TMR and DPTI.

Avis Australia selected the Jaybro DB80 concrete crash barriers as the preferred solution because they are lightweight, making the delivery more cost-effective, and they are quick and easy to install.
