Not all gloves are created equal
What is EN388:2016 and why does it affect my choice of Safety Gloves? Understanding Safety Glove Standards
EN388:2016 is the European standard for safety gloves that are sold as hand protection, designed to assess the performance of a fabric or layers of fabric for their ability to resist heavy rubbing, cutting by a blade, sharp object, tearing and puncturing by a pointed object.
How are safety gloves marked with the Standard?
EN388:2016 approved gloves are rated using four numbers that identify how resistant the gloves is to abrasion, cutting, tearing and puncturing design to information workers of the level of protection the glove provides.
Safety gloves that conform to EN388:2016 standard are marked with the shield shown on the right.
