XT Edge Protection Fencing, Castle Hill

XT Edge Protection Fencing, Castle Hill

The Project

The Skyview Apartments are set to be a collection of luxurious one, two and three bedroom apartments that will be built in the exciting and developing area of Castle Hill in Sydney.

Our customer, Toplace, is currently undergoing construction of 5 high-rise apartment buildings. The apartments will feature common green areas, swimming pools, a children’s playground and a rooftop terrace.

Located on an elevated plateau in one of Castle Hill’s most prominent positions, Skyview offers buyers spectacular natural views and superbly appointed amenities. This location enjoys unrivalled proximity to Castle Towers Shopping Centre, the train station, and excellent education, employment and leisure options within the Hills district.

Our customer, Toplace is spearheading this project, consisting of over 900 dwellings. The 8000 sqm area requires significant excavation and groundworks to prepare the site.

The Challenges

The elevated position of the site meant that a significant length of the perimeter was exposed to the sheer excavation drop-off. This created a fall hazard for workers in the surrounding site areas. Additionally, the adjoining roads presented a potential danger to the public. Surrounding the edge of the pit with safety fencing was critical.

The Solution

edge fencingJaybro supplied Toplace with 168 metres of our XT Edge Protection fencing. The XT Edge Protection Barrier system was used as a protective barrier to prevent accidents and falls around the excavated construction site. This provided safety for workers while the base of the building was being constructed.

Fortress Fencing XT Edge Protection creates a protective barrier around voids, drop-offs, edges and other no-go areas. It is a strong temporary fencing solution. Additionally, the XT Edge Protection Barrier can be used as a pedestrian barrier, crowd control tool, or to warn of hazards.

Each galvanised welded mesh panel comprises 4mm steel wire construction. The wire grid has centres not exceeding 50mm x 50mm, meaning it complies with AS/NZS 4576-1995 ‘Guidelines for Scaffolding’. The panels also feature a rectangular rolled wire top.

Additionally, the rolled wire bottom includes a galvanised kick plate. This solid kick plate helps prevent objects from falling through the panel bottom, thereby reducing the risk of losing objects near the drop-off or pit.

Galvanized 50mm square RHS posts form part of the XT Barrier System. These 1005mm high posts are specially designed to quickly and easily lock the XT Edge Protection Barrier panels in place. This makes installation and removal quick and easy. RHS posts can be fixed to concrete using masonry bolts. Note that Jaybro suggests gathering engineering advice before fixing to concrete.

The Skyview project is due for completion in 2022.
