New PORTABOOM® Features Plug & Play Traffic Lights and Pedestrian Lights

An upgraded PORTABOOM® portable boom gate has recently been released, enabling even more flexibility when it comes to site traffic control, pedestrian management and access control.

The new PORTABOOM® PB2000L builds on the proven technology of the original but now includes a redesigned PCB (printed circuit board). This new circuit board technology allows for a range of accessories to be easily fixed to the unit, including traffic lights, pedestrian lights and activation sensors. Plus, the new model has double the output thanks to a new battery: the rechargeable battery allows up to 13,000 cycles.

The PORTABOOM® PB2000L unit and the traffic lights accessory work in conjunction with each other to enhance worksite safety. The additional visual cues provide instruction to motorists to slow down and stop. The physical barrier of the PORTABOOM® arm continues to protect the work zone ensuring motorists don’t breach the stop point. 

The PORTABOOM® traffic lights accessory is ideal for long term operations on remote site areas and used in conjunction with the solar panel accessory, it eliminates the need for recharging at set intervals. The traffic signals are synchronised with the boom arm, giving motorists advance warning to stop.

Likewise, the pedestrian light accessory improves the instruction given to pedestrians around construction sites. A standard Australian-style pedestrian button accessory is also available.

Both the traffic and pedestrian light accessories can be used together or independently depending on your requirements, and each accessory is synchronised with the operation of the PORTABOOM® PB2000L unit.

If your site requires automatic activation of your PORTABOOM® rather than staff-only keypad entry, a new activation sensor bollard can be used to activate the boom gate. It is designed to be positioned at sites where authorisation at the access point is not required, for example as a speed calming device ensuring vehicles stop before entering and exiting a site.

The PORTABOOM® traffic lights, pedestrian lights, activation sensor and other accessories are immediately compatible with the new version, however, if you’re already the proud owner of an original PORTABOOM®, we can help with retrofitting to your PB2000 PORTABOOM®.
