Precast Pits for Vaughan Constructions, Eastern Creek

PROJECT SNAPSHOT:

Vaughan Constructions are undertaking the design and construction of Fujitsu General Australia’s new national headquarters and distribution centre.

The air conditioning giant’s new headquarters will encompass over 11,000 square metres of space at Eastern Creek. The modern Western Sydney hub will include a large showroom, gym, auditorium and green spaces. Additionally, the project includes an 8,500 square metre distribution centre.

The building design has a five-star Green Star rating and is situated in the rapidly growing Eastern Creek industrial area in the Western Sydney growth corridor. As part of this project, civil engineering and drainage specialists CLMU were engaged to provide the extensive stormwater pipelines and drainage. CLMU specialise in civil engineering works, earthworks, drainage, and excavation.

THE CHALLENGES

The Fujitsu project contract included delivery of bulk earthworks, stormwater systems and retaining walls. The multi-faceted development needed to be delivered on time and on budget. Therefore, the project managers sought a reputable supplier for a series of precast concrete stormwater pits, risers, grates and covers.

CLMU chose Jaybro precast concrete stormwater pits and components for this build.

JAYBRO’S SOLUTION

The civil and drainage team at Jaybro was able to assist with a series of high quality precast concrete stormwater pits and risers. Manufactured at our purpose built factory, our range of precast concrete stormwater pits are cast in standard sizes for an off-the-shelf solution.

Constructed using 40mpa wet cast concrete and fortified with AS4671 steel, these pits and risers contain polypropylene fibre reinforcement resulting in a mean strength of 650mpa.

Delivered with lifting eyes for safety, they are built to withstand Class D wheel loading. This means that they can endure heavy duty vehicle loads to 8000kg, more than enough for the trucks entering and leaving the Fujitsu HQ.

Furthermore, Jaybro’s precast stormwater pits and risers come in a range of standard sizes offering greater flexibility on site compared with in-situ cast or custom made pits.

The scope of this project also included stormwater grates and covers. This project has an expected completion date of December 2018.
