Open Weave Mesh & Corflute Signs for Sydney Tennis Centre

Tennis Centre at Sydney Olympic Park
AW Edwards, July 2019

The NSW Government has announced a $50.5 million upgrade to the Tennis Centre at Sydney Olympic Park that aims to provide better facilities for both netball and tennis athletes and fans.

A new roof will be installed over Ken Rosewall Arena and Show Court 1 to provide an all-weather environment, and a timber sprung floor capable of hosting major netball events. The ATP Cup debuts on the tennis calendar in January 2020, and the Tennis Centre upgrade is expected to be completed in late 2019 in time for this key event.

Our customer AW Edwards was awarded the contract, which will help to meet growing demands for both tennis in netball in Western Sydney. AW Edwards chose 1000 metres of Jaybro’s custom printed fence mesh to surround the Olympic Park site, along with a series of custom made corflute directional signs.

Temporary fencing was necessary to secure the site, both for privacy and safety. Consequently, with such an expansive run of fencing surrounding the stadium, this fence presented an ideal blank canvas on which to advertise the project.

AW Edwards required a custom printed fence mesh that was affordable and could be manufactured and delivered to site quickly. A local supplier who could provide custom printed fence mesh was needed. Additionally, AW Edwards needed to signpost the fencing with temporary directional signage.

Jaybro could tick both boxes and provide quality fence mesh and corflute signs, fast.

AW Edwards ordered 20 rolls of custom printed fence mesh to surround the Ken Rosewall Arena and Show Court One (a full kilometre of fence mesh!).

The open weave fence fabric was printed with the joint logos of Tennis Australia, Sydney Olympic Park and AW Edwards. Additionally, nine custom made corflute signs were printed for the project, providing pedestrians and visitors with wayfinding directions, as some entrances were obscured by construction activities.

Jaybro’s custom printing facility in Arndell Park NSW has the capability to print as little as a few metres of fence mesh, up to kilometres and more as seen here. Our print facility extends to corflute and metal signs, adhesive stickers, hard hat printing and more.

Our open weave custom printed fence mesh provided an excellent substrate on which to print high-fidelity logos. The mesh allows for 50% air breathability, ensuring the mesh does not act as a sail and catch the wind. Supplied with eyelets and cable ties, fence mesh is easy to fix to temporary fencing or cyclone fencing. It is ideal for sports events, construction, festivals and the building industry.
