Class A Geotextiles for Campbelltown Road Upgrade

Class A Geotextiles for Campbelltown Road Upgrade

Project snapshot

Jaybro supplied Class A geotextiles to the contractor for Stage 1 of the Campbelltown Road Upgrade. Our customer used GEOmasta Nonwoven geofabric as a separation layer during the construction of the new dual carriageway.

The challenges

Our civil construction client undertook roadworks for RMS, widening Campbelltown Road between East Town Centre Road and new Macdonald Road.

Along with widening the road to a 4 lane dual carriageway over a length of approximately 1.2km, our client undertook public utility adjustments, new traffic signals, street lighting, new road construction and storm water, concrete shared paths, property adjustments and landscaping.

As part of the main road construction component, the project engineer stipulated a non woven geotextile to be used as a separation and reinforcement layer. Jaybro’s GEOmasta team supplied over 7.5km of mastaTEX Nonwoven Class A geotextile and drainage pipe for the project.

The project in detail

This project is valued at $38 million and will result in more lanes being built along busy Campbelltown Road to cater for a new community at Edmondson Park. With thousands of future homes expected to be built and the new 25,000sqm Ed.Square Town Centre development nearby, the project will enable better transport links for Sydney’s South West.

The first stage of the upgrade between East Town Centre Road and the new Macdonald Road intersection at Edmondson Park is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
